While a gram of water will weigh a gram on a scale,,,, black powder is not the same.Start with a powder charge of 55 grains and work up an accurate load in 5 grain increments. However, I do have one .54 that prefers a 425 grain Great Plains bullet and 100 grains of 2f.The load for the 45, is 115g, but actually it weighs 80.5 grain. Bore size, rare of twist, patching material for round ball, powder type, lube for your bullet/patches. all of these things will affect accuracy and the type of powder you use and the best charge to use. JB may be too fine, depending on how rough the bore actually is. 320 grit Clover compound is good as is fine valve grinding compound. If the bore shows reamer marks across the rifling that may be the problem. If it's smooth then it's something else wrong, like the lube.
